My Top 10 Albums for 2010

Ok, it's been a busy couple months so I was so behind in my music that I listened to about 8 albums in November and December to catch up on what I missed. 3 of my top 5 (Kanye, Kid Cudi and Cee Lo) only came out in November and saved what was probably a lackluster year in great albums.

Here's my top 10:
1 Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Don't try and tell me anything else is better
Check out: So Appalled, All of the lights

2 Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon II
Surprise of the year for me
Check out: Erase Me (Ft. Kanye), Mr Rager, These Worries

3 Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot
Dominated my playlist for about 3 months when it came out
Check out: Shutterbug, For Yo Sorrows, Back Up Plan

4 Cypress Hill - Rise Up
One of their best
Check out: K.U.S.H, Armada Latina

5 Cee Lo - The Lady Killer
Didn't know what to expect with this one but I'm pretty sure I don't skip 2 songs when I'm bumping to this
Check out: Fuck You!, Bright Lights Bigger City, Wildflower

6 The Roots - How I Got Over
Classic Roots, nothing out of the ordinary but very solid
Check out: The Fire, Right On, How I Got Over

7 Reflection Eternal - Revolutions Per Minute
Talib hooks up with Hi-Tek for the first time since Blackstar for some wicked beats and lyrics
Check out: Ballad of the Black Gold, In This World

8 Slash - Slash
Some great tracks on this album. Good to hear from the world's greatest guitarist again
Check out: Ghost (Guitar riff of the year), Back From Cali

9 Lil Wayne - Rebirth
Haven't heard any of his other stuff but this album with a heavy rock presence especially some sick guitar work provides for a real fresh rap album
Check out: American Star, Prom Queen

10 Eminem - Recovery
Some very cool songs on this album but a bit patchy at times
Check out: Cinderella Man, Talkin to Myself, Almost Famous

Honourable mentions:
B.o.B - B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray
Expected something too mainstream for my likeing but there are some real sick tracks
Check out: Ghost In The Machine, 5th Dimension, Don't Let Me Fall

Jimmy Eat World - Invented
Not a great album but has some good songs that keep true to Jimmy's style
Check out: My Best TheoryHeart Is Hard To Find

Alter Bridge - AB III
Just checked these guys out after I found out the lead singer was Myles Kennedy who sang for Slash on his world tour. Not bad

A few disappointments for the year
Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns
It didn't suck but it's so far removed from what I expected from Linkin Park that I'm quite disappointed. My expectations were higher than they should have been. Especially after I heard their first track, The Catalyst.

Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday
After hearing some sick verses on Kanye, Ludacris and Lil Wayne's albums I was hoping Nicki Minaj would be like a poor man's Jean Grae but I was sadly disappointed. One of the tracks might make one of my mix tapes.

Ludacris - Battle of the Sexes
I didn't think it would be great or anything but I was a fan of his last dig Theatre of the Mind but Battle of the Sexes sucked so hard that it made my disappointments list

I like all music but generally just nugg on hip-hop, rap and real rock n roll (Shout out to the legendary Slash, Metallica and Iron Maiden) so there's a lot of stuff I didn't give a listen to, namely the new Kings of Leon, I don't even know what other people think of it.

I've linked the youtube videos to the names of the songs I recommended above.

Merry Christmas!
